CarZone NI, Irvinestown – Car for a ‘hole in one’

Another year and still no winners for our Lady Captain’s ‘hole in one’ competition. We are greatly indebted to Gerry McNamee who very generously sponsors this fabulous prize, year after year.

So make a date in your diaries Ladies – Clogher Valley Golf Club Lady Captain’s Open Day 2018 ….. maybe it will be 5th year lucky.

(There were some dire threats of chain saws being needed on the wee dunt – so Raymond & Strokey, you had better keep a close eye!!)

Donation to Cancer Connect

(Lady Captain Hazel presenting Breda from Cancer Connect with a donation.)

In lieu of gifts, Lady Captain Hazel requested that donations be given to Cancer Connect NI. Entry fees for the ‘hole in one’ competition were also donated to this very worthwhile local charity.

Breda McGrenaghan spoke about the facilities and services Cancer Connect provides in their Enniskillen centre – see the Cancer Connect NI website for details

Lady Captain’s Open Day 2017 – Results & Photos

Lady Captain Hazel welcomed Lady Members and Visitors to Clogher Valley Golf Club for her Open Day (Wed, 14th June 2017).

The course was in superb condition thanks to the hard work put in by Raymond, Strokey & their band of helpers, dry weather was forecast and the stage was set for a very enjoyable day of golf.

Lady Members enjoyed morning refreshments in the Clubhouse before a shot-gun start. Alas, no-one managed a ‘hole in one’ on the ‘Wee Dunt’ where Gerry McNamee of CarZone, Irvinestown very generously sponsored a car for the 4th year running – we greatly appreciate Gerry’s support year after year!

Stephen & Aaron Fee (S & A Fee Engineering, Tempo) kindly sponsored our ladies prizes. Huge congratulations to all the winners and in particular to Carmel & Josie (v) who returned super scores to win the Club and Visitors’ prizes respectively.

Busy week at the Clogher Valley. Wednesday evening Scramble continues, 6.30pm for 7pm Tee off.

Tuition and practice session for beginners & improvers, (Ladies, Gents & Juveniles) continues every Monday at 10am. Free of charge, everybody welcome.

During the week we had the Western Cars Stableford competition. The course looked magnificent and was complimented with an array of exquisite vehicles on show as competitors drove up Magnolia Avenue. The golf wasn’t too bad either. Alan Forsythe & Eamon Rasdale went head-to-head, with the former succeeding, but only just, on countback. Stan (Monty) Montgomery wasn’t far away either. One slip was all he needed, but that slip didn’t happen.

Aughnacloy GC hosted Clogher Valley in the first round (first leg) of the Conway Cup. This proved to be a titanic struggle with every match being a cliff hanger. Unfortunately for Clogher Valley, they came out the wrong side of the result and will find it very difficult to claw back the lead Aughnacloy established. However, the golf was good, the course was good, the food was good and the hospitality and camaraderie was excellent. Even Sydney was good. Congratulations to Dean Marshall and his merry men. A date for the return leg will be organised later.

Prize Giving is on Saturday 27th. Winner please note, “Local Rule”. Non attendance could mean forfeiture of your prize. Music & Entertainment by Country Willie Ralph.

Please note……….Time sheets are in operation for all competitions. Victor will oblige and can be contacted during office hours on 077 7595 2690.

Sheets are available also for “Singles”, “Doubles” & “Mixed Doubles”. The draw for these will be made at prize giving on Saturday evening so if you haven’t your name entered, please do so or, ring Victor.
