Captain Leonard would like to remind all Club Members taking part in his Captain’s Day Competition to put their names on the Timesheet now displayed in the Clubhouse foyer.

Although the Clubhouse is currently closed for renovation works, the foyer can be accessed and the Timesheet is displayed on a noticeboard just inside the door. There is also a list for those attending the Captain’s Day meal to add their names and meal choices.

Club Members can play the Captain’s Day Competition on Friday, 8th July (all day) and on Saturday, 9th July (only up until 11.30am).

This weekend, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd July we will hold our annual Cancer Research Competition. This is an 18 Hole Open Stableford Competition (or a 9 Hole Stableford for Seniors).

Prize Giving for this competition will be held on the Saturday evening 2nd July @ 9.00pm in the upstairs function room of the Clubhouse.

We look forward to seeing a good turn-out of players this year again to raise money and awareness for a very worthwhile cause.

We would like to send our best wishes to Peter McGirr and his Conway Cup Team as they play the 1st leg in Blacklion on Sunday 19th June and commiserations to Andy Armstrong and our Lawson Cup team who were defeated in the 2nd leg by Blacklion last Friday.

This week-end we look forward to another good turn-out of players for McGirrs Fuels Stableford Competition – Friday 17th June to Sunday 19th June.

Please remember that all Club Singles and Doubles Competitions should be played as soon as possible – check the Board!!

Lady Captain Mary Fee’s Invite to Gents Stableford Competition was hotly contested last weekend with some great golf resulting in a nailbiting finish. In-form Brendan McCusker,fresh from his first ever victory two weeks ago, graced the hallowed turf as he did in his football days and carded a great round of 6 under par 42pts. After a great opening 5 pars in a row,Brendan found too much trouble in the back 9 and 2x double bogeys and a triple bogey were to cost the 21 handicapper dearly as he finished runner-up to eventual winner Malachy “Old Blue Eyes” Graham on count-back. Endless hours of putting practice with his ghuru and a new putter paid dividends as Malachy stroked the ball better than he strokes the paint brush! His card painted a pretty picture which included 10 pars and 2 birdies resulting in victory also with 42pts on count-back. Stan Montgomery finished a very creditable 3rd with 41pts again on count-back.
